Sobiyet Baklava recipe!

Şöbiyet is a kind of dessert belonging to Turkish cuisine. Traditionally based on Ottoman cuisine, Şöbiyet is a dessert usually served at iftar tables and special occasions during Ramadan. Şöbiyet is among the desserts with syrup and is made by combining various ingredients.

Şöbiyet is usually made using thin phyllo or baklava dough. It can contain various fillings. Most commonly, a filling consisting of various nuts such as walnuts, pistachios or almond kernels is ground and mixed with sugar. This filling is spread on phyllo or baklava dough and rolled into a roll.

Sobiyet Baklava

Then, the roll of sobiyet is usually sliced ​​into square or rectangular shapes and fried in oil. The fried sobiyets are then sweetened with sherbet. Sherbet is usually obtained by boiling sugar, water and lemon juice, and it is poured over the fried sobites to absorb them.

Finally, powdered pistachios are usually sprinkled on the Şöbiyet or a syrupy sauce is poured over them. Thus, şöbiyet, a delicious and visually appealing option among sherbet desserts, is obtained.

Sobiyet Baklava

Materials:

  • 1 pack of baklava dough
  • 1 cup of ground peanuts
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Half a glass of oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

For sherbet:

  • 2 glasses of water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • Juice of half a lemon

Fabrication:

  1. First, to prepare the syrup, take the water in a saucepan and heat it until it starts to boil. Then add the powdered sugar and mix until the sugar is completely dissolved. After the sugar dissolves, add the lemon juice and boil for another 5 minutes. Remove the syrup from the heat and set aside to cool.

  2. To prepare the peanut filling, take the ground peanuts in a bowl. Add powdered sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice to it. Mix it well.

  3. Lay the baklava phyllo on the counter. Take a dough sheet and drizzle oil on it. Lay another sheet of dough on it and apply oil to it as well. Repeat this process until you have used 4-5 sheets of dough.

  4. Take the top phyllo that you have greased with oil and sprinkle peanut filling on it. After spreading the filling on the dough, wrap the dough in the form of a roll. Slice the roll with a knife, gently pressing each slice to give it an even shape.

  5. Do the same for all the phyllo and place them on a greased baking tray. Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

  6. Before serving, you can optionally sprinkle crushed walnuts or powdered peanuts on them to decorate them.

  7. Take the Şöbiyet baklavas on a suitable plate to serve and share them with your guests. Enjoy your meal!
